Does the ADOS-2 confirm autism on its own?
No. It is a tool that can be part of the assessment. Its interpretation is integrated with developmental history, observation and the rest of the information.
Could the conclusion be something other than autism?
Yes. The assessment must remain open to different explanations and to the possibility of needing more information.
Can the assessment be done entirely online?
Whether any part can be done online is considered according to age, the assessment question and the tools required.

Who carries out the assessment?

What does it include?
It starts from developmental history and the reason for consulting, and combines interviews, clinical observation and specific instruments where indicated, with information from everyday settings. It ends with a feedback session for the family.
What should we prepare?
We will tell you what information is useful before starting. Previous reports from school or other professionals and your own observations about development are often helpful; you do not need to send them in the first contact.
Can it be done in English?
Yes, the assessment can be carried out in Spanish or English. We agree the language of the interviews and feedback, check which tools suit the child’s language situation, and confirm the language and purpose of the report.
Can the report be used for official procedures or school?
A clinical report does not in itself imply official recognition or automatic acceptance by any institution. If you need it for a particular purpose, tell us beforehand so we can clarify what it can provide.
Do you coordinate with the school?
When it is relevant, we coordinate care with the family, the school or other professionals, such as psychiatry or medicine. We agree what information is needed and how to share it, respecting confidentiality and the applicable requirements.
