(Stages of life)

Psychological support at different stages of life

You can contact us about emotional difficulties, anxiety, relationships, life changes or concerns about your child. We begin by understanding the situation and discussing which kind of support may be appropriate. English appointments are available with members of our team; availability depends on the professional and service.

(Neuropsychology)

Neuropsychological assessment

We assess questions about attention, memory, learning and other cognitive abilities.

The process brings together clinical history, selected assessment tools and information about everyday functioning. Before starting, we discuss the language of the appointments and report, and whether the available tools are suitable for the assessment.

(Autism)

Autism assessment in English and Spanish

Lourdes Abarca Fernández provides autism assessments for children and adolescents in English and Spanish.

The assessment considers developmental history, clinical observation and relevant information from everyday settings. Specific tools may be used when appropriate; no single test determines the conclusion.

Frequently asked questions

Can my child be assessed in English?

Please contact us to discuss your child's age, language background and the purpose of the assessment. We will confirm the appropriate professional, assessment conditions and report language before you book.

Will my school or insurer accept the report?

Requirements vary. Check the receiving organisation's requirements in advance and share them with us so we can clarify what the assessment and report can provide.

Do you offer online appointments outside Spain?

Please tell us where you will be located. We need to check whether the service can be provided appropriately and within the applicable professional and legal requirements.

How much is the first appointment?

Before booking, we explain the appointment format, fees and relevant conditions, and who you will see.

What should I tell you when I get in touch?

A short description of the reason for consulting, the age of the person concerned, the language and your availability is enough. You do not need to send detailed clinical information at this stage.

What is the difference between therapy and a neuropsychological assessment?

Psychotherapy is a process of working on distress, relationships or behaviour. A neuropsychological assessment explores functions such as attention, memory, language or organisation to answer a specific question. They answer different questions, can complement each other, and we can advise on which fits.

Where is the practice?

At Via Augusta, 42, mezzanine floor, door 3, Barcelona, next to Gràcia. You can check the location and directions before your visit.

Can I ask for a morning appointment?

Yes. Let us know you prefer the morning when you get in touch, and we will confirm the options available.

Do you see emergencies?

No. AlfaBeta provides outpatient care. If a situation needs more intensive care, we can advise on appropriate services. If there is an immediate risk to safety, call 112. In Spain, 024 supports people with suicidal thoughts or at risk of suicidal behaviour, and their families.
